Cerebrum

Identification Points

1. Outer cortex is gray matter,

Inner medulla is white matter.

2. Cortex-six-layered structure.

3. Main cell types-pyramidal and stellate cells.

4. Medulla contains myelinated nerve fibers.

Cerebellum

Identification Points

1.Cerebellar folia with outer cortex and inner medulla.

2. Cortex--three-layered structure. Outer molecular,

middle Purkinje cell and inner prominent granular

cell layer seen.

3. Main cell types-Purkinje cells and granule cells.

4. Medulla is made up of white matter.

Spinal Cord

Identification Points

1. Central H-shaped gray matter with

large anterior horns, narrow posterior horns.

2. Surrounding white matter with anterior

deep median fissure.
